10/18 In the World - Lost

Sermon Brief

Many Christians find it easy to recommend things they love but hesitate to talk about Jesus. Jesus came “to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10), and through His death and resurrection, He made reconciliation with God possible. In 2 Corinthians 5, Paul explains that Christ’s love compels us to live for Him and share the message of reconciliation.

Because Jesus has rescued us, we are called to represent Him wherever God has placed us. The sermon challenges us to take three practical steps: share the good news, invite someone to church, and serve on a team.  We cannot save anyone, but we can faithfully share the gospel and trust Jesus with the results.

Big Idea

Jesus has rescued us so we can represent Him.  Motivated by Christ’s love, we are called to help others hear the good news wherever God has placed us.

  1. What’s something you love so much that you naturally find yourself recommending it to other people?

  2. In 2 Corinthians 5:14–15, Paul says Christ’s love compels him. What’s the difference between being motivated by guilt or obligation and being motivated by Jesus’ love?

  3. Read Matthew 5:14–16. How does this passage challenge the way we live and represent Jesus in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and everyday relationships?

  4. Read Romans 10:13–15. Why is sharing the gospel so important, and what fears or obstacles sometimes keep us from doing it?

  5. This week we were challenged to share the good news, invite someone to church, and serve on a team. Which of these three steps is God leading you to take, and what specifically will you do this week?
